Winemaker's Notes:

Dark cherry red. Intense nose of ripe fruit (cassis) and comfit fruit mixed with sensations of toasted coffee and licorice which bring finesse and elegance. Strength, savory and opulence combine in the palate of this wine that little by little develops in the bottle.

Winemaker's Notes:

With abundant red fruit notes and signature Three Palms minerality, this is a classic expression of the qualities that have made this vineyard legendary in the world of California Merlot. Aromas of cherry, raspberry and red currant are underscored by hints of cola and freshly rained on river rocks. On the palate, the tannins are firm and structured, supporting ample currant and fig flavors, as well as enticing spice. This age-worthy wine will benefit from decanting in its youth.

About Duckhorn Vineyards:

Founded in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has been crafting Bordeaux varietals from the Napa Valley for over 30 years. This winemaking tradition has grown to include seven estate vineyards, located throughout the various microclimates of the Napa Valley. Focused on quality and consistency, these estate vineyards are an essential element in making wines of distinction. One of the first wineries to pioneer Merlot as a premium varietal, Duckhorn Vineyards now makes several elegant Merlot and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings to showcase the characteristics of its vineyard sites. In addition, the winery is known for its acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc. Beginning with the 2006 vintage, Duckhorn Vineyards unveiled The Discussion, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend that represents the pinnacle of Duckhorn's portfolio.

Winemaker's Notes:

As the debut vintage of our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine was blended to showcase the structure and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon from this storied winegrowing region. Crafted around a core of older vine fruit from our Stout Vineyard, there is an unmistakable wildness to this wine, with wild berry layers supported by earthy undertones, fresh herb layers of mint, eucalyptus and sage, and an oak-inspired note of coconut macaroon. A study in power and restraint, this mountain-grown wine is broad and lush on the palate, with a big, yet elegant, finish.

Additional wines from Champagne Krug:

About Champagne Krug:

Since 1843, with unique single-mindedness and sense of purpose, the Krug family has proudly cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne. Theirs is a living legend, a certain idea of excellence that has been quietly redefined through six generations without a break.

Krug's founder, Johann-Joseph Krug, was a maverick who turned his back on a comfortable position in an established champagne house to strike out on his own. He had not only the vision, but also the talent, to achieve his ambition of creating a champagne with a taste quite unlike any other.

Subsequent generations of the Krug family not merely honored his achievement, but amplified it, bringing genuine pride and passion to their craft. From meticulous grape selection, through the birth of the wine in small oak casks, to the intricate process of "assemblage", followed by long years of aging in the cellars, Krug champagne is the culmination of painstaking care and unrivalled craftsmanship.

The 2009 Terra d'Oro Amador County Zinfandel is a compelling wine that exhibits the classic style of Sierra Foothills Zin. The wine displays vibrant aromas fresh briar patch, blackberry, spicy clove, allspice, and hints of mocha. The ripe, fresh fruit nose follows through on the palate with flavors of juicy wild berries, plum and black cherries. The wine;s full, rich mouthfeel is balanced with well integrated tannins. Notes of white pepper spice linger on the finish. This Zinfandel shows the unique characters that are found in Amador County and cries out to be served alongside a juicy, grilled rib-eye steak!

Additional wines from Decoy:

About Decoy:

Since the inaugural vintage of Decoy Napa Valley Red Wine more than 20 years ago, Decoy has taken an important place in the Duckhorn Wine Company family of wines. With a reputation for delivering great quality at a remarkable price, Decoy has established a loyal following for its distinctive style, which emphasizes ready-upon-release wines that are capable of expressing their full charm and complexity in their youth. Building on this foundation, Decoy has evolved from being a single wine that supported the Duckhorn Vineyards brand to being a supporting brand for the entire Duckhorn Wine Company portfolio.

Today, in addition to the Decoy Red, the Decoy lineup includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc—all of which are appellation-designated, and highlight Decoy’s commitment to producing attractively priced wines made from exceptional vineyard sources.

Because of Duckhorn Wine Company’s unique structure, Decoy benefits from the talent, experience and expertise of all four Duckhorn Wine Company winemakers, each of whom has a unique area of specialization. Like all the grapes used to make wines in the Duckhorn Wine Company portfolio, fruit for the Decoy program comes from a mix of Estate vineyards and top growers. Decisions about which lots are used in Decoy are not made until well into the winemaking process. As a result, Decoy’s grapes receive the same meticulous care in the vineyard, and the same small-lot attention to detail in the winery.
