winemaker's notes:

This well-balanced, medium-weight wine offers bright acidity and a long, satisfying finish. The aroma is rich and evocative of dark cherries, nutmeg, caramelized apple, cinnamon, and clove. On the palate, it is full of plum, spice, cherry, strawberry, and vanilla oak layers.

Though delicate and understated, this wine's compelling force of flavor, weight, and potent spice create a depth and density that cannot be missed. Drink until 2015.

"Rich oak combines nicely with equally rich cherry-like fruit and suggestions of dried flowers in the nose of this outgoing effort, and the wine's flavors follow suit with sweetly spiced cherries running their length. It is firmly balance but fully expressed and easy to taste even now, and it will make very fine drinking over the next several years."
-Connoisseurs' Guide

critical acclaim:

"Winemaker Zach Rasmuson did not produce a Narrows Vineyard bottling in 2005. Instead, those grapes went into the regular Goldeneye, to its great benefit. The wine is particularly rich and powerful in cherry pie filling, black raspberry, mocha, Dr. Pepper and smoky oak flavors, with a gorgeous, mouth-filling texture that’s dramatic on the finish."

Wine Enthusiast

"Anderson Valley Faded garnet hue. An earthy, as well as chalky, bouquet with clove and tomato leaf accents. Mixed flavors of mocha, chalk, dark honey and brown spice. Dusty powdered chocolate and flintiness in the finish with a lasting, delicate sweetness. "

The Wine News

"Rich oak combines nicely with equally rich cherry-like fruit and suggestions of dried flowers in the nose of this outgoing effort, and the wine's flavors follow suit with sweetly spiced cherries running their length. It is firmly balance but fully expressed and easy to taste even now, and it will make very fine drinking over the next several years while its vineyard-designate siblings age into their best. "

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."
Collectible wine
Collectible
These wines will improve from additional bottle age, when properly stored, and may show the greatest potential to increase in value.

About Professional Ratings

These wine ratings are based on a 100-point quality scale, and are selected by each publication's unique criteria. Some wine ratings are expressed as ranges. When this occurs we will list the highest score in the range and note the full range within the tasting note.

While ratings may influence your decision, the ultimate judgment is your palate.
