Now that price has reterned to reason this is still one of, if not the, best entry level Champagne. It is clean, crisp, tart with a slight taste/aroma of citrus & apple. Almost anyone will like it. There is very little yeast or nut aroma here, but there are others with that more mature style.

Similar to their Brut (slight citrus aroma & flavor) but w/ a hint of strawberry & a slightly sweeter taste around the corners of ones mouth. Also good, but less versatile. At this price who cares -- keep several of each.

    Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay 2005
    Sold Out $19.49
    2013 vintage available for $16.99
When opened the wine has a piercing stone/mineral over citrus aroma similar to a Schloss Vollrads Qmp. With air banana & tropical fruit aromas emerge & the wine has a full CA Chardonnay fruit taste nicely complemented w/ an oaky dryness & noticeable (13.9%) alcohol. Tasty but not as smooth as the Sonoma Cutrer but nice @ the lower price. From 2d 1/2 btl: Wow, give it a couple days in a VacVined .375 ml bottle & it softens, becomes heavier & picks up slight apricot notes; nice! Note: this is the only vintage since `99 not rated >87 in major wine publications. Good buy ~ $12. T/WM898.

    Chalone Estate Pinot Noir 2002
    Sold Out $25.99
    2010 vintage available for $28.99
Deep ruby color; dense nose of spice, dark fruit, tea & earth.  The flavor is of currents, spice, vanilla & wood. But it is dry & food friendly, not bright fruit-juicy as many, lesser, CA Pinots. It is a smooth, complex Burgundian-style heavy weight. VG to EX!

Our co-favorite sparkler (with Roederer's Blanc de Noirs). This CA sparkling wine has a harmonious blend of citrus, bread dough and spice that is great by itself of with lighter foods. Fairly priced.
