Served at a BBQ with friends, who went completely over the moon for it. Where did I get it? Where can they find it? Probably the best wine I had all year. Bold taste, lots of fruit, and managed to balance itself across all the parts of the tongue. So delightful. As an Hispanophile, I thought Goya's Prisoner as a label made it all the more attractive.
Light & Crisp
Clear, crisp, slightly sweet but with lots of melon and citrus flavor. Very good.
Big & Bold
Absolutely gorgeous. The flavors were balanced, complimentary, rounded while remaining powerful. The petit verdot obviously added a great dark berry nuance.
Smooth & Supple
I think red blends do not get the attention that varietals achieve. This wine is a great example, the skill needed to blend different grapes into something this harmonious is an art. It is a solid, but smooth, red wine easily worth the price. If there was one critique, I didn't think it too well rounded at the back of the palate. It claims to be an exceptional wine, and it was everything it claimed to be, but that's it.
