Frei Brothers Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Frei Brothers Alexzander Valley Cab is an excellent value and compares nicely with many Napa Cabs. It is full bodied, balanced, has plenty of dark fruits and a hint of mint on the good finish. This has become my favorite California Cab value. Many of my wine friends support this view. The 2008 vintage is slightly better (4 stars)if you can still find it. The 2009 will likely improve with a little time in the cellar.

Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay 2011

We ordered a bottle of this wine to try and really enjoyed it. It is an unoaked Chardonnay, so it is light, refreshing and the natural fruit qualities of Chardonnay shine through. Lot's of pear and green apple balanced with good acidity. A good finish, but with a hint of bitterness which I believe will mellow out with a little time in the bottle. We purchased 6 more to cellar until next summer when it should be a perfect summer white. Great Value!

This wine has a nice nose, fruit comes through on the pallet, with a hint of mint on the finish which is long. The tannis are still young and it will benefit from 2 - 3 years in the cellar or an hour or more exposure to air.

Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Riserva 2007

This Chianti has earthy notes to it, exhibiting some spice, but was closed up. Not much too it. Even after leaving the bottle open for a few hours, it only slightly improved. I don't recommend it.
