I am typically not a big fan of many California Pinot Noir wines because they are very heavily oaked and very high in alcohol content. But this is an exception! The oak, what little there is, is very well integrated. I taste sweet berry fruits with vanilla and baking spices, a very mellow wine in the glass. Totally gulpable!!
screw cap wine
I preferred this to the Innocent Bystander PN, which sells for $5 more/bottle. Not as much tingle in the mouth as some other NZ Pinots I've had.
I absolutely love Pinot Noir and Cote du Rhone. I like a big fruit, velvety smooth mouthfeel. I recently bought this bottle at wine.com and am getting ready to purchase more of it. It is a wonderful value with primarily Syrah (vs. Grenanche), which is my preference in a CDR. Stock up while you can!!
I served this wine at our family Christmas dinner this past year and it was a hit! Malbec is a great red for all palates, because it is smooth yet full-bodied. Looking forward to another bottle. This wine scored #32 on the Wine Spectator top 100 wines of 2009.
