    Paco & Lola Albarino 2011
    Sold Out $11.99
    2013 vintage available for $19.99
    Style: Fruity & Smooth
This is a good choice for someone tired of the usual varietals. I have to admit, at certain points during tasting this I did not entirely enjoy it! There are a number of flavors and nuances that come and go. There is a distinct concentration of honeydew melon, lemongrass, and simply: white grape juice. Predominately the nose has a honey-guava aroma. The fruit is ripe but not without a needed tartness. The heaviness is interesting, definitely a full bodied white, like whole milk. Floral notes of jasmine, apricot, citrus. And then - the finish is unique. I tasted a minerality, mixed with the pungent funk of a dry aged cheese. I normally like salinity in whites... But it was a bit bizarre. It's been a while since I have experienced a wine with so many layers. I'm not sure if they are in harmony or not, but this is great if you are experiencing palate fatigue. I'm guessing this would be perfect paired with a cheese plate....

Excellent value! Dark fruit subdued by earth and with well balanced tannins. Solid and satisfying.

I really enjoyed this Merlot. Lush plum, soft and round mouthfeel, delicate spice. I will definitely buy a few more to have on hand. Elegant and reliable.

IThis is a really smooth and ripe merlot, a milk chocolate mouthfeel. A bit more tannic or acidic presence would be nice- lacking in those areas. I was hoping to find a replacement for the Peju Merlot - sadly this is not the one. A velvety and dark ruby merlot, and a good value.

    Vina Herminia Crianza 2011
    $16.99

This wine is lovely. Deep garnet, dark fruit, medium tannins, somewhat fruit forward but the primary character is of smoke and leather. Delicious! Very elegant and complex for the price

Absolutely the best valued wine of substance I have tried the past year. Carmelized fig, ripe plum, blackberry, brown sugar, and such a smooth dark chocolate mouthfeel and a finish of espresso. Delicious!

Domaine de Gournier Grenache Noir 2011
    Sold Out $8.99
    2013 vintage available for $10.99
I would pass on this wine. Does not have the medium/dark berry lushness I expect in a Grenache focused blend

    Wilson Daniels Pinot Noir 2010
    Sold Out $8.99
Was a bit disappointed with this wine, after reading rave reviews elsewhere. Very tart, tight, like an underripe raspberry. Medium/light in body for a Pinot noir. Something bland about the nose and finish. Maybe it would have been better served a bit cooler than I had it. We are in the middle of a heat wave here and room temperature is higher than normal. Hmm.

Wow. Deep rich plum, extra dark chocolate, dark boysenberry, lush mouthfeel, creamy finish. I bet this would be amazing with a flourless chocolate cake. Rich, dessert like, and superb. Not "sweet" typically but rounded and developed. This is a real value!

    Peju Province Merlot 2010
    Sold Out $37.99
    Style: Smooth & Supple
I discovered this wine when staying in Calistoga! It came with the suite we had free of charge. I opened it immediately thinking, might as well drink this instead of the expensive wine I brought. I was so surprised! I normally prefer Napa/Sonoma Zinfandels but this Merlot really has a richness I was amazed by. Dark and ripe berry roundness, very controlled oak and tannins. Pretty much as smooth and drinkable alone as they come. When we went back to the Mount View Inn we made a point to stay in the Peju suite again so I could enjoy this wine! I am so pleased that this is on wine.com now!
