Absolutely the best valued wine of substance I have tried the past year. Carmelized fig, ripe plum, blackberry, brown sugar, and such a smooth dark chocolate mouthfeel and a finish of espresso. Delicious!

I would pass on this wine. Does not have the medium/dark berry lushness I expect in a Grenache focused blend

Was a bit disappointed with this wine, after reading rave reviews elsewhere. Very tart, tight, like an underripe raspberry. Medium/light in body for a Pinot noir. Something bland about the nose and finish. Maybe it would have been better served a bit cooler than I had it. We are in the middle of a heat wave here and room temperature is higher than normal. Hmm.

Wow. Deep rich plum, extra dark chocolate, dark boysenberry, lush mouthfeel, creamy finish. I bet this would be amazing with a flourless chocolate cake. Rich, dessert like, and superb. Not "sweet" typically but rounded and developed. This is a real value!

    Peju Province Merlot 2010
    $37.99
    Style: Smooth & Supple
I discovered this wine when staying in Calistoga! It came with the suite we had free of charge. I opened it immediately thinking, might as well drink this instead of the expensive wine I brought. I was so surprised! I normally prefer Napa/Sonoma Zinfandels but this Merlot really has a richness I was amazed by. Dark and ripe berry roundness, very controlled oak and tannins. Pretty much as smooth and drinkable alone as they come. When we went back to the Mount View Inn we made a point to stay in the Peju suite again so I could enjoy this wine! I am so pleased that this is on wine.com now!

    Kunde Estate Zinfandel 2011
    Sold Out
    $22.00

Having a Zinfandel again after a bit of a break... I realize the meatiness, and the smokiness of the Californian varietal overpowers most of what I eat. If you eat red meat or the more unusual types of fowl, this wine would be excellent. It did overwhelm tandoori chicken and very spicy benghan bharta- a smoked eggplant curry.... And that surprised me! This wine was juicy and powerful but the smokiness had an artificially strong presence... Not sure why...

Pierre Henri Morel Cotes Du Rhone Villages Signargues 2011
    Sold Out
    $18.99
    Style: Earth & Spicy
This is a lovely Rhone blend: plum, dark berry, cassis, cardamom, clove & juniper. Wow. What a great value. Improves quite a bit after an hour of aeration. This will be on my repurchase list for sure! Somewhere between earthy and fruity.... Fruit is present on the nose/flavor profile, but the finish is earthy/spicy.

Sella & Mosca La Cala Vermentino 2011
    $11.99
    Style: Fruity & Smooth
Wow. I now am aware of vermentino. Such a lovely balance between minerality and a smooth yellow-ripe fruit mouthfeel. Wonderful and a convincing change of pace for those that don't generally get too excited about white wines.
