    Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 2011
    $33.99
    Style: Earth & Spicy
The 2011 rendition does not render the same quality tannins as the 2009 version, but it is a fine 92 point effort, nonetheless. This one is a less structured earlier drinker, without the long-term promise of the 2010 barolo line. Very good, but 2009 was better.

Jean-Luc Colombo Les Terres Brulees Cornas 2010

    2012 vintage available for $49.99

Just a really outstanding wine from an outstanding French vintage. I had this one early in 2015. The thing that stood out most to me is how the acidity perfectly balances out the fruit. Not a complicated wine; more of a perfectly balanced hedonic delight. I could drink an entire case of it over the course of a year and never bore of the flavor. I look forward to more Rhone 2010's in my future

    Churchill's Estates Douro 2011
    $16.99
    Style: Big & Bold
The dry red wine of the DOURO 2011 vintage is distinguished in its grace and complexity, and Churchill's Estate is certainly no exception. This wine presents character far exceeding its price point, but I fear that it might not appeal to the average American palate. It's very interesting and full of personality, something that I love about well-made european provincial varietals. It's not obscured by oak or manufactured taste that hint at winemaking insecurity. It merely chooses to Be in its own Place and Time. How can you not fall in love with such genuity?

Be patient, this one takes thirty minutes to settle. Powerful fruit initially, a persistent finish that won't quit. Very rare for a sauvignon blanc. Glad I stocked up on this one. Different from the 2011 Greywacke (more power) but it is the real deal and will become more modest in another year or two (just like the 2011).

    Bodega Norton Privada 2012
    $25.99
    Style: Big & Bold
This wine is very good but requires considerable time in the open air (>2 hr) to come together properly. It might be a little early to drink (thinking ~2016-2017), but it's still quite tasty with proper breathing. Can't beat Bodega Norton Cabernet blend at this price.

Fruit forward but balanced; nice, distinctive flavors of peach and lemon. Poignant and persistent finish, nice acidity. Exactly what you want from a food friendly white and a steal at this price.

    Bodega Norton Malbec Reserva 2011
    Sold Out $14.99
    2012 vintage available for $15.99
    Style: Big & Bold
Don't let the mundane bottle art deceive you; within lurks the greatest value Malbec from a truly stellar South American vintage (2011). French oak allows this varietal to shine, supporting ripeness with great minerality and acidity with this fabulous effort from Bodega Norton. Napa ought to be running scared with the reds coming out of the 2011 Chile/Argentina vintage. Let's see how long the advertising machine can last in the face of superior value and taste.

This needs additional cellaring time for the tannic spine to fully unwind but it is very good. I would not open the 2009 until 2015 or 2016. Took a full two hours to decant and hit its stride. The strength of the 2009 and 2010 french vintages are undeniable. Enjoy them!
