Jenny and I had this in January and we thought it was a nice wine for $15 bucks. Not a big-full-heavy Napa Cab, rather a light cab. The slight hint of tannin gave way to a fruit sensation. This sensation lasts about 20 seconds, rather than 40 to 60 like a premium Napa Cab. That said, it was a big hit with Jenny who does not like the overpowering nature of a big Cab. Residual sugar was probably the dominant taste although this wine had good balance for the price. The only downside, as with most cheaper wines, was the lack of complexity and depth. Additional aging probably would do very little as the bottle label states that the wine is "Made to be enjoyed upon release." I think this wine, in my novice opinion, would be good for food that is traditionally reserved for white wine but the person only drinks reds....like me. I also think this wine lends itself to a softer atmosphere, such as a lunch date or other events mid-day. Unlike the Stag's Leap, Quintessa and other heavy hitters...who are better suited for the dark dinner table or cigar bar, this softer wine is pleasant and fun. Lastly, and the most important question, is the wine worth the price of $15? Yes, and here is why. This is a great wine to enjoy with your wife...who if is like mine trends towards whites and is hard to convince to drink a glass of red and even harder to get to drink a Cabernet Sauvignon. That said, it is not true Aaron Stull style.
