If this isn't the perfect summer red I don't know what is. Big earthy bouquet with cedar and oak notes and a dark ruby red almost purple color. This gets you interested in the contents. Ripe fruit with a thick mouth fell at the start then it thins out quickly into a lighter enjoyable finish. The finish is fresh and and low commitment. You could sip this by the pool, at a friends BBQ or even with a well prepared dinner and it would fit into all occasions.

Drinks very much like a dry Riesling. I hate Riesling but for people that do like that style this wine is a winner. Fruity smooth and lightly sweet. I hate Riesling.

Anyone expecting more out of a $15 bottle is crazy. This is a great, yea, great wine at this price. Deep ruby color, looks hearty coming out of the bottle. Big bouquet with dark fruit, oak and vanilla after about one hour of air. A bit too much mouth puckering tannin on the initial taste but the finish is right on with a long earthy finish showing the oak again. Ok so it's a little heavy on tannin but at 15 bucks there is no problem here.

Solid Tuesday night bottle. Good acidity and light fruit, light oak. Would go well with a range of foods much like a pinot but with a bit more character.

Good value. Mineral shines through immediately on the palate. The aroma is tight and does not open up over time. Had half this bottle in the evening then the other half 24 hours later. The dark fruit really came out after 24 hours with some air but the nose didn't. Still very drinkable with a pleasing deep purple hue.

I have to respectfully disagree with the previous one star rating. This is a great Cali cab. Big floral noise and easy initial flavor with a long finish that leaves you waiting for the next sip. Oaky on the palate with subtle fruit maybe plum and fresh cherry. Very enjoyable and approachable wine. You find yourself saying why can't every bottle be this effortless. Thanks mount veeder and wineshopper.com for a great value. Too bad it's sold out. Will be looking for the 2012.

Thought I could get away with it. 2010 Bordeaux was the highest rated vintage in the past 10 years according to Wine Spectator. Unfortunately, this bottle doesn't make the cut in our house. Not sure if it's turned or what but it reveals flavors of wet newspaper and stagnant water. Run don't walk to the Mouton-Cadet at this price point.

    Mouton-Cadet Bordeaux Rouge 2011

Ok. Someone had to review Mouton-Cadet and I guess it will be me. No easy task given the rich history of the de Rothschild family behind this omnipresent Bordeaux. So, first off wine.com has a good price on this compared to my usual price here in central Maryland. Second, it's not bad for a Tuesday bottle. When I was in my mid-20's drinking 2 buck chuck we would splurge and get the MC. After realizing that 2 buck chuck was no longer palatable I was drinking all kinds of California reds in the $10-15 range and MC was in the mix as a solid option. Fast forward uhhhh 15 years?!?! My wine appreciation has matured a bit and I have had some really great wine's. After a 10 year break, I decided to buy 3 bottles of the 2011 and was surprised with the drinkability. What is drinkability? The bottle is not something to be savored, rather just consumed with a regular Tuesday night meal of paste, fish or salad nothing remarkable but nothing that leaves a bad impression either. Just decent drinkable table wine when all you're trying to do is shake off the day, get the kids in bed and chill for a few minutes before doing it again the next day. If you don't finish the bottle, pop it in the fridge and your good to go tomorrow. Need a cup of red wine for your sauce? NP go ahead and open a bottle and pour a glass to enjoy while cooking. No pretenses here just a working man's red that's there when needed. What's the problem?

Yes. A three star rating for our friends at Coyam. Maybe the 09 and previous well rated vintages were better. 2010 was a solid B at this price. Cold mineral aroma pleasing deep purple color you get in some Argentina offerings. Initial taste is a little flat and young. Not a lot of complexity or oak. Light blueberry jammy. Light short finish. If you have friends that are not into savoring a great bottle and are looking to serve something different with a story to tell this may be a good choice.

    Sold Out $14.99

Such a great Bordeaux for such a great price. This wine is why I keep coming back to wine.com. Sometimes you find that extreme over achiever with outstanding value. The wine? If there was a class called Intro to French Wine 101 this should be the first glass to be server. Beautiful lush bouquet with earth and fruit in the background. Good ruby red color. Typical introduction with the first sip of mineral and tannin then wait for it wait for it that finish which evolves from dark fruit through spice and finally to something that makes you look forward to that next sip. I hope the 2011 is as good as the 2010. We'll have to wait and see.
