I will admit, I love wine and mostly drink good wine. This was one terrific Zin. I decanted it for 15 minutes and it opened up superbly. Very full and aluringly tannic, this is one to add to the cellar. I actually added 2 bottles to my own! A must have for a full boddied wine lover!

Moet & Chandon White Star
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $49.99
This is a very delicate and taste champagne with the definte undertone of peach. We drink this as a special occassion bubbly (Christmas, Parties, New Years) but it also affordable for more frequent consumption. The delicate nature of the wine goes well with mild cheeses and fruit, anything more really does overpower it. For New Years or Christmas, I recommend getting a magnum because Moet tends to be popular with everyone (and with good reason!).

I shared a bottle of the Silver Oak A.V. Cab with a buddy of mine when my wife and I went up to his restaurant in Vermont. We both got Filet and it was the PERFECT accompanyment. The nice thing about this wine is the cherry taste right in the middle. Wow, a little steep in price because you are buying the name as well, but It is still justifiable!

This is actually the best wine I have had to date. I am not sure why the price was marked down because this wine stands up to many more expensive bottles. It bursts of delicious berries and has a light hint of licorice. Very exceptional bottle.

Most people don't associate Hess with expensive, first rate wines, but this is one of the better young California's I have had. It has beautiful dark fruit at the onset, but is by no means a "fruit bomb". It then unveils some terrific yet subtle tannins and has a long finish. That is the extent of my memory of it but I truly enjoyed this wine. I did not decant it, but it developed in the glass so maybe decanting for 15 minutes would start you off on the right foot. Enjoy!

The 2007 is the best Seghesio Zin to date. Since 2004 they have stepped it up and produced extremely distinctive, well crafted, and NOT overly oaked zins. Due to this wine being WS #10 of 2008 it is probably sold out (even though they produced 60k cases!). Keep a look out for the 2008, I am sure they will one up themselves again!

I bought a 1/2 bottle of this and it was quite nice. Besides the spice notes (very subtle), the aroma of saddle leather was defintely the most pronounced. The palate was quite beautiful and full of dark berries! This sand dry wine hung one the tongue for a nice amount of time. Overall pleasant surprise! This was rated 87 by Wine Spectator but it is better then that rating would suggest.

Because of the Shiraz this wine possesses the tannins necessary to age for a few years although if you decant it for a half hour or so it is very drinkable now. I say this because if you don't you may lose some of the effect that the Viogner imparts on this delicious blend. I personally wouldn't pair it with anything because it is so amazingly good on its own. Enjoy!

I had this one last week with salmon @ the Wildflower Inn in Northern Vermont. For the money it was terrific and accompanied the the salmon beautifully. Being a young Shiraz it was very fruit forward. This would actually be a wine that my wife would enjoy because she likes them a little sweeter, but don't fret, it is still sehr elegant!

This review is obviouly reflective of my person palate. I have read the other reviews and can see some of the other descriptions as accurate but possibly a little over romanticized (which is fine because champagn is a romantic/in the moment type wine). My family had it on a Sunday afternoon for no special reason but to have a nice glass of champagne. This is a nice way to gage a wine because it is u and the wine...not New Years/Wedding/Anniversary. It is nutty and has a nice undertone of citrus (from what I could tell), but I thought it fell a little flat at the end and lacked the complexity & crispness I would expect frma decent bottle of champagne. Again, this is my experience, and I was a litte let down. I would recommend a Charles Heidsieck Brut or the ever dependable Moet & Chandon White Star as equal or leser price alternatives. Hope this helps!
