I've had this wine in three different vintages and I just don't see what the hype is about. I'm a lover of brunello, so I don't understand why this well scored wine seems so simple and uninteresting to me.
Maybe I just got an off bottle. This wine tasted like a $20 meritage. I didn't find a purity in the fruit, nor the elegant structure I expected. I'll need to try again. Thoroughly disappointed.
This wine is a baby! It's wound as tightly as anything i've ever come across. That being said, there is an array of black and red fruit with a plush mouthfeel. You can just tell that in 7-10 years this is going to be an elite wine. Even at this stage the finish lingers on forever.
While being in a very generic style showing no spanish terroir, this wine is stellar. The mouthfeel is plush, the fruit is perfectly ripe, and there's a 30-40 second finish. This has more polish than alot of $50 wines. One of the best QPR's on the planet!
