Fetish The Watcher Shiraz 2008
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $19.99
Style: Earthy & Spicy
Well rounded, tannins not too harsh. This one is a 'house wine' at one of the local steak houses - with good reason. A big wine that will stand up to steakhouse fare. Picked this up on sale at $16 a bottle, shipped. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Very nice. Good citrus. Wish we had more for the coming summer.

Loved this as a first bottle. It's full of fruit and MAN is there a huge nose on this wine. Vanilla like I've never smelled before. Great taste, smooth finish, though could cellar a while longer I think. I'm opening the next one in a year or so to see if I, in my nubbery, can tell whether it's different after a tad more time. I'd definitely buy this again, though much above $15 and I'm not sure it screams DEAL like it did ...

If you don't like Carmenere, don't jump in to this one. While it's a blend, and the fruit is great with a good structure, the Carmenere comes right through. The smoky and spicy nature of the Carmenere is great here, and, for my taste, the berry fruit of the Syrah is a winner. We like this for a good 'anytime is the right time' wine. Just a bit expensive for the every day wine - but we'd use it for that if we could! Also, we picked it up on sale for $16 - and I wouldn't go higher than that. There are better values out there unless it's on a good sale.

McCrea Amerique Syrah 2006
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $34.00
Loved this one out of the bottle and DID give THIS one out for Christmas, as we had intended to do with the Grand Cote from the same vintner. Wish we had more than another bottle sitting around to taste later. This one is big with a good fruit nose. Good tannins without the pucker of some ... We'd take more at a lower price point, but there are better values out there.

My wife HATED this when it opened. I was able to push myself through a couple of glasses, but we didn't give it out for Christmas as gifts as we intended to do. The Amerique version is much better. That said, I may change this review when the wine's had another year or two on the shelf. Just not worth drinking now - I think it's over oaked for the grape, but I don't know whether that's the taste we were getting out of it.

Taltarni Pyrenees Shiraz 2004
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $20.00
Style: Earthy & Spicy
This wine is going, in my opinion. Was a great price, and, while it's still drinking 'okay', it has a flat taste and was somewhat musty. That didn't clear after a day in the bottle. It has a good fruit, but is watery and peppered over the fruit. That said, I didn't pour out the bottle as I've done with some wines my relatives have sent from discount wine clubs. Not unhappy, just wouldn't buy more.

Henry's Drive Shiraz 2007
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $34.99

Great wine for the price. Very fruity, smooth tannins. Compared to what you'll find in a store at $15, this wine is a top contender.

Betts & Scholl Chronique Grenache 2006

Definitely what I thought it would be. Nice structure, full bodied, not too tannic and smooth at the end. I'd buy it again.
