Break this one out at an impromptu dinner with friends and impress them with your savvy wine stylings. Bold and fruity and brewed for immediate drinking, this Padthaway blend has plenty enough alcohol and tartness to see it age gracefully too. Fruity, jammy up front, a touch of acid and a gutsy finish (almost too much guts before it has breathed and really opened up) belies the price tag...a case of this one's going into the back of the cupboard for a rainy day
At 6 bucks a bottle (when found on special) this is an acceptable quaffer but I wouldn't expect too much. For a wine with a few years on it I really expected more. Some fruit is there - "bursting" is an overstatement - and the tannins are present but not unpleasant...in fact they are probably what ultimately holds this brew together. Otherwise a bit thin and boring.
