The 2003 Astralis is a wonderfully concentrated, chewy Shiraz made by one of the 4 or 5 best winemakers alive today. Worth looking for!
Many years ago I had a bottle of Hill of Grace and I was hooked on Aussie Shiraz. Sparky and Sarah carry on the tradition of Heinskie, Penfolds, and a host of other "new world" winemakers that kick butt and take names. Maitre d' is rightly tagged one of the best wine values by both RP and WS. Bring on the Velvet Glove, godfather of the Molly Dooker label
Remember when "declassified" wines were limited to d'Yquem? Remember when "second label" was a Les Fortes de LaTour? No more... Quilceda Creek, the best winery in America (hey man .. 3 Parker 100's - try that one on Screaming Eagle) makes a great Claret blend when their impeccible Cab is just a bit off. This is what happened in 2004 and this wine is really good.
