Very crisp and light……love the bottle great look; great Italian feel…. Bouquet sharper than sip….beautiful mouth feel….rich but light; crisp and nice...great buy…. Perfect for light everything; light appetizers, seafood, just to enjoy while cooking; great for entertaining…very light and FrEsH! Feels celebratory but not too heavy or serious. Just right for bringing to homes and keeping on hand……. Lunetta may mean "Little Moon" but it’s got big potential.
Smell. Sniff. You know you’re about to taste quality. Whether you like it or not— Fumé Blanc is not for everyone—you will be sniffing & tasting quality. The bouquet is so bright. The bouquet itself is crisp…. When it hits your tongue you almost feel effervescence! That’s how strong it is… the flavors are strong and decisive, dry & bold. It is a very (very) good wine. Not for those who want a mild wine, or a sweet wine at all. But one to serve to guests if they like dry and you want to spend more than $10 and just less than $20. The wine is smooth and above it all I keep coming back to the word quality. Now I’m a lover of sauvignon (and Fumé) Blancs so I’m a tinge biased; but no matter what this is an adult, grown up wine. The twist cap is a lovely convenience and the wine is truly quality in every sip….
Well this is my review of the Cupcake Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2013 BOY is this wine worth it! I had looked at Cupcake a few times and really wasn’t sure if I wanted to try it…I’m not sure why…maybe the sweet name threw me off, it suddenly becoming ubiquitous, I’m not sure…but it was on sale one day and I said okay, it’s time-- Marlborough in New Zealand has such a good rep…let’s see…. My oh my….starting as always with the bouquet—it is rich and vibrant! It is what you want the bouquet of a Sauvignon Blanc to be….the bouquet is so fresh you want to dive right in…you do and you get a vibrant fresh mouthful….with a clean finish and excellent taste…serve very chilled, the taste on the tongue is smooth….the flavor is rich….and although I balked when I read their description of…” culminating in a long, creamy finish.”—to me creamy finishes are for chardonnays! But not a Sauvignon Blanc, that I want a cleaner, crisper finish—but I was wrong! Yea! This smooth Blanc does have a creamy finish and it’s done with panache. Its full mouth feel but with distinct smoothness and richness. This is a good wine.
HH NOTES: Yes, it turns out that Ménage à Trois is not just, let’s say, an engaging activity…but lends itself well to this rich California wine….they use the word silky and SiLkY is the right word –the bouquet is strong, but the mouth feel and finish are smooth and silky indeed…there’s a flavor, a distinct flavor… on your tongue—you feel it; but it’s not overwhelming or heavy—the Cab grapes have been mollified by the blending & what you’re left with is a lovely, lovely red that gives you a smooth silky feeling and a rewarding finish. :)
