Sea Smoke Cellars Southing Pinot Noir 2009
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $105.00
Style: Earth & Spicy
a little bit of spice, earthiness, subtle cherry notes and a glorious smooth and luxurious finish. Sigh. It's all gone now (at least the 2009) but it was delicious to the end. Sea Smoke is my favorite Pinot producer and Pinot is my favorite varietal. These guys are consistently great year after year.

Really a terrific wine that briefly became our house wine (until we finished it all). Bright & spicy

Green Point Shiraz 2005
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $19.99
What a shock to the senses (in a good way)! This wine is fabulous. Deep, dark purple; barely letting the light get thru. A bouquet of vanilla with a pleasant earthiness that perks you up for the coming taste. And then - POW! Chocolate, licorice and then more of that silky vanilla as it lingers on to an exquisite finish, just melting away like a slow sunset. Only, unlike a sunset, you get to have another sip. It was a beautiful day in the hot sun by the pool today and now we've got the BBQ going. I opened this wine and it completed the day. Perfection. An incredible deal at this price!

Just a fantastic example of a NZ sauvignon blanc. None of the harsh tanginess you sometimes get with a CA version but still crisp and compelling. Delicious!

I've bought this wine several times, both the 2004 and 2005. Really delicious: great color, beautiful bouquet, spicy beginning with a rich, lingering finish that forces you into the next sip and the next until, alas, the bottle is gone!

A wonderful wine for the money (you can usually find it for under $25, sometimes under $20), year after year. A bordeaux/meritage style wine that goes great with steak, prime rib, cheese or (my particular weakness) chocolate. Stands on its own as just a great sipping red: robust but smooth, silky with a nice finish.

I bought this based on a recommendation by a friend and the great review on the 2005 version. Maybe I just got a bad bottle (but it's a screw-cap so you can't blame the cork!) or they're under new management now, but I thought the 2004 was awful. It mellowed a little after leaving it a couple of days and became more drinkable but I would never buy it again. I could find no hint of fruit in either the bouquet or the taste though the color is a satisfying deep purple. The winemaker's notes appear to be referring to a different wine...

Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz/Grenache 2006
(this vintage is sold out)
Price: $23.99
This wine is a beautiful deep purple/red color with a full fruity bouquet. Flavors of cherry, blackberry and a hint of licorice at the end. I couldn't stop drinking it!
