Champagne Krug Vintage Brut 1998

Worth the money if you wait a couple years, and if you have money to spare, buy two cases. This will last for a very long time. Drink this with food, not as aperitif. Liked this better than the 1996 and 1995.

Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee

Gave this 3 out of 5 now, but gets much better over time. Drank an older (red) label Krug NV couple months ago, and the difference is mind-blowing. Only worth the money if you cellar it for 3-5 years, or just buy the vintage 1998.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 1998

This kind of champagne is my favorite. Full-bodied, pinot noir dominated. Is amazing now, but will last at least for another 10 years or so. Cannot wait for the 2002.

Great wine. Just tasted this from half bottle (375ml) and it's already evolved a great deal. Still has 2-3 years to go before it gets to 5 stars. For 750ml bottle you'll have to wait at least 6+ years. Bordeaux's drink best at 10 years of age, had Cos D'Estournel 2000 a month ago, and it's perfection.

Armand de Brignac Brut Gold (Ace of Spades)

Not even worth $50. I don't know what the fuss and hype is all about, this champagne compares to Henriot. Presentation is great, but how can you charge this for a non-vintage champagne that is pretty much the same as their regular Cattier. (Cattier is the champagne house that makes Armand de Brignac) The price you pay here is for the marketing, and presentation. Quality is poor, and for this kind of money I would go for Dom Perignon, Louis Roederer Cristal, or if you like a bit heavier/full-bodied champagnes the Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame.

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2004

Great champagne, but very different than the 2002 Cristal. This will age much quicker and will be very good in a year or two. If you can still get the 2002 for about the same price, I would recommend getting that instead.

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2002

This is a wonderful champagne. Not a full bodied champagne, does get there if you cellar it for 10 years. Recently had the 1990, which was unbelievable. Can drink this now, but would recommend cellaring this for at least 8-10 years, but it's hard to keep your hands off.

Dom Perignon 2002

This is by far the best Dom Perignon I've had at such an early stage. Very drinkable now, but will get unbelievably good in the next decade to come. Have piled this in the cellar and won't touch it for at least 5 years. This is the kind of champagne to buy 12 bottles, and drink one a year starting 2015. Always fun to see how this evolves, hope it has the potential to surpass the 1996, which I had last week and was perfection, but still young.
