Irresistible. Rasberry infused chocolate pervades the nose. Supple, graceful, and complex. 'Nuff said.
I can't think of a better wine for $$. Fabulous black fruit and velvety tannins made this a great pairing for spicy chicken tacos. Everyone at the table loved it - no easy feat!
Exceptional for the price! I'm giving it 3 stars because I reserve 5 stars for my bucket list picks and 4 stars for my outstanding wine picks. This is an extremley good Sauvignon Blanc and a great deal for the price. It overperforms and refuses to be overstated. This is not like New Zealand SB (meaning no huge grapefruit here), instead you'll find hints of all things citrus, a lovely light body and a refreshing profile. I think the winemaker's notes on this one are spot-on.
Best kept secret of the wine world? Portugal! Undervalued and overshadowed by it's more famous neighbors, Portuguese wines are always struggling to earn some respect (picture Rodney Dangerfield looking bug-eyed and incredulous). Well, I love you Portugal and this wine is the perfect example of why. 2009 Tinto is lively, juicy, savory and chalk full of sexy tannins. It's a complete wine and completely integrated, so don't be afraid to drink this now. This is a winemaker to watch. Vallado is always at the top of the rating charts, no matter what the vintage.
Incredible wine for the $$. I would have guessed it was a Spanish clone of a flagship Super Tuscan . Intensly aromatic in the glass, gorgeous garnet red, dark fruit and spice on the nose and on the palate. Delicous.
I did not get as much lemon as the reviewers, instead I perceived wonderful limey minerality. Green apple in there as well. Bone dry with high acid, the fruit is so juicy that my companion thougt there was residual sugar in it. Nope, that's called citrus fruit, lots of it. I have yet to try a Leeuwin wine I didn't love.
I was sceptical, however, this is actually an extremely good wine for the money. It is solid, smooth, and not overly-fruity, making it a great wine to sit down at lunch or dinner with. LIKE!
Tried this yesterday. Extremely young in its development but showing great promise, I'm curious to see where it goes. At the moment, Sangiovese is prominent, meaning it has a while to integrate all it's component parts. If you insist on trying one now and one after 2014, decant for several hours.

Four stars for great quality priced under $50. It delivers big bang for your $. Restrained and not over the top, but with the hallmarks of California Chardonnay. Oak, butter, and delicious oak spice on the palate. Fends off flabbiness with the required acidity. Drink now.
I tried this twice. First time I was very pleased by the blackberries and spices on the nose and very lush mouthfeel. The finish is long and has great grippy tannins (the mark of Ribera Del Duero). Kind of sad to say that I now prefer Ribera to most of Rioja's wines. Ribera is kicking butt with fantastic wines and has been for a while now. I corked it and stuck it back in the fridge and tried it two days later. Still cookin' this time with a nice jaminess. This is an extremely good tempranillo for the price and drinks like a bottle in the $30-40 range. I really think it will only get better at least until 2015.
