My initial tasting of this wine about six months ago left me wondering what all the raves were about. While there were interesting toasty notes on the nose and tartness on the palate, I thought I had to be missing something. New Year's inspired me to open another bottle, and I got all I expected the first time...and more. There were still those toasty notes on the nose, but now with some dried cherry. About an hour after decanting, this wine had a great silky mouthfeel with juicy cherry and understated tannins that gave this wine great structure but with everything in balance. My only regret is that I only have one more bottle of it left...
A delightful Sauvignon Blanc, fresh aromas of apple, peach, and grass. Crisp acidity keeps it interesting, with a delicate fruity finish.
This wine is one of the more fruity Sauvignon Blancs I've tasted. Some grass and peach on the nose, with taste of citrus and grass upfront, finishing with a nice acidity.
A solid go-to Cab, medium- to full-body. Fruit-forward with enough spice and perhaps a bit of cocoa to make it interesting. Good value at this price.
Anybody that looks down their nose at the Yellow Tail label owes it to themself to try this Reserve Shiraz. Around the $10 mark, this has become my favorite wine value. A spicy berry nose, followed by rich fruit flavors of cherry and raspberry, with some cocoa mixed in. Understated tannins give this wine a nice structure and contribute to a long, smooth finish. Really hard to go wrong with this quality at this price point. Very much recommended.
Tart cherry on the palate with a little spice in its dry finish. The dark red color made me expect something with a little more depth. A light mouthfeel, its an interesting change of pace from other Bordeaux blends.
This wine has a nice ruby color, aromas of cedar and vanilla. Lush fruit on the front end - plum and berry - and a solid tannic structure. Only fault may be that it's too tannic, even after decanted for about an hour. Your tongue feels like it's been coated in velvet, but just a bit too much for my taste. At $20, it's a fantastic value; let it age a year or two, and you've got a wine that may taste like you paid twice as much as you really did.
My first experience with PX has thoroughly spoiled me. Served properly chilled, this is a thick sip of raisin, caramel, almond joy. It's so rich, you don't need much - but that little bit is heaven enough. There are more recent vintages out there for about $5 less...but why bother? They're a little lighter on the palate, but this delectable bottle is worth easily three times its price. Before dinner, after dinner, over ice cream, on your oatmeal - you'll find any excuse to indulge.
I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity of this wine. Starts off with some cocoa and dark cherry, finishes with some smoky spice. Very good quality for the price, I look forward to the next release.
Jammy! Silky mouthfeel, loads of blackberry, chocolate and maybe some tobacco. The complexity and quality at this price point really surprised me.
