Big & Bold
Delicious wine. The ripe fruit flavors (black cherry, blackberry, raspberry) are backed by an excellent herbal note - think mint and eucalyptus. Great acidity, medium tannins, lovely balance and a long finish. A group of us polished off two bottles faster than we should have - it was a little too easy going down. Great match for burgers, though I'd enjoy this with many different dishes as it is not too heavy, but rich enough to match with other bold flavors.
This is definitely a richer, creamier style of Chardonnay than I expected. From a cooler climate, I was thinking it would be much more mineral-driven. And it does have that aspect, but the biscuit and hazelnut aromas and creamy textures dominate, though I was pleased by the acidity that backed it up. Not too heavy by any means, I thought it balanced rich flavors and textures with some good bright fruit and acidity. A good Chardonnay for some creamy sauces!
This is what '07 is known for: balance of fruit and structure. This wine definitely displays that. Lots of dark fruit up front, backed by a hint of cedar. Good, firm tannins, round mouthfeel and an excellent finish show these are ready for drinking now OR evolving for a few more years. One I'd love with a juicy steak, lamb or other hearty meal.
You'd never know this Chardonnay saw oak, except for the lovely mouthfeel. No malo on this wine leads to fresh stone fruits (apple, pear), "crunchy" acidity, excellent finish. A very crisp and bright Chardonnay - one that reminds you what the grape is all about.
I love this wine - it is everything I love in Cabernet. Good, rich fruit, cedar, dried savory herbs and a killer structure. Not over the top, not one that I'd throw in the cellar for a long period of time, but this has potential to evolve over the next 5 years or so. Tasting delicious now, with a lovely balance. Something I'd like with a pork roast or even a steak - not too heavy, so not for heavy foods, but a great all around Cab.
This is what I'd term a lighter-bodied Pinot Noir. It's bright & fresh red fruits are backed by a pleasing spice. Lots of zesty acidity, but with a slight savory texture. Good balance, great food wine - a go-to for drinking good red in hot weather.
