Cinnamon, mineral, blackberry and plum. Complex with a great finish. Outstanding value compared to that thing they call merlot in california.
Agree with WS that it is made in a classic style which I guess is not my style. Has that heavy feel of too much plum, stone fruits and a woody finish. The wine is overly oaked with much of a fruit finish.
Medium/full bodied with a very rich mouthfeel. Intense notes of cherry and vanilla with the oak providing a firm foundation without getting in the way. Reminds me of th 05 St. Clement Oroppas.
Cherries on a non descript nose. This isn't sweet, but is a great example of why so many people don't like merlot any more. Green and bitter. Unpleasant.
What I typically like about Santa Rita syrahs (Zaca Mesa comes to mind)is the new-world style; true to varietal but still fruit forward. this is an excellent wine but has all of the barnyard and earth/meat/tobacco nose and flavors of French syrah's
I liked this. It's full-bodied and bold, easy to drink and no hard edges. Not complex, but no complaints at this price point. A value for sure.
