The title summarizes the taste. It is my favorite under $20 red and it has been sold out online at most places. I just found some at another website and ordered 6. Will edit my review after I drink more of it. 91-92.
It is clean and crisp. I will give it 89, but not 91. It was $19.99 when I bought it. I may buy it again if the price is lower than that. For more than $20, I much prefer the Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut Rose. The difference is huge.
Love it. Will order more and taste again to to add tasting note.
I liked this wine quite a bit, but I downgraded it from 5 to 3 star because the last batch I ordered was very bad. I had ordered it a few times before the last batch of 10 bottles. This last batch is unbearably sour, to the extent it is over my drinkable limit. I called wine.com to explain the problem and they gracefully gave me full credit for the order. Too bad the wine is inconsistent, but Kudo to wine.com's superior customer service. Enjoyed this and have ordered a few times. Pleasant black berry and currant taste. Smooth taste with a pleasant and medium tanning. Well balanced body. Easy drinking. Jim likes it. Beautiful label too, if that ever matters. Solid 90. Will order a few more bottles because price has dropped from 13.99 to 10.99!
Stronger tannins than its 2006 vintage, which seems to call for a few more years aging. Taste improves after substantial aerating. Spices and fig paste infused taste. Quite pleasant a medium bodied wine. Pleasant and Balanced Taste, but it kinda lacks characteristics. Maybe aging will help. 89-90.
Typical of Pinot Gris (French) and Pinot Grigio (Italian). It's sharp and crispy, without some of the unpleasant caustic taste in cheap Pinot Gris. However, like other Pinot Gris, it isnot very rich in flavor. A pretty good choice if you like Pinot Grigio in general.
Can drink it any day of the week, with a wide variety of food. It is dry and smooth, with light caramel and chocolate taste on top of black berry, figs, and currant taste. A little light and simple on the body but not too thin due to its great flavors. Considering ordering more as house red if price drops from $13.99 to $10.99. Solid 91 if you like supple and versatile wine.
It's a medium body Merlot, with a bit of a harsh tannins for a Merlot, which unfortunately does not gain enough complexity in structure. The flavors are not bad, but it tastes kind of wet. The bouquet was pleasant but I forgot what the elements are... I think it's Cab is slightly better. I would give it 88.5 (is that legit?) instead of 90 :-)
This is review is after my second bottle of this Rioja. It has an overly strong tannin when first open, and not very pleasant. But if you just leave it for a day or two after opening, it opens up substantially and becomes very floral on the nose and fruity on the taste. Great for when you want to have slowly consume a bottle of wine through out a few days. 89.
