Lightly sweet but a bit too tangy for my palate.
This wine had a slightly tangy kick but was not at all bitter. Blackberry and currant notes were delightful.
We really enjoyed this wine, and I hope 2006 is as pleasant as the 2005 vintage. Not too heavy nor dry, just right.
My least favorite Shiraz. Not sure if it's the vintage or if it's usual with this vineyard, but it was bitter like grape skins.
We are split on this one. I didn't care for it, husband did.
Very lightly sweet and crisply dry. We really, really enjoyed this one, and one of us does not like sweet wines, nor the other, dry. It's an excellent balance in this bottle.
After a proper breathing interval (30 minutes or so), the first glass had deep rich fruit with blueberry notes and light aged oak. The second glass seemed heavy and strongly alcoholic. Perhaps we needed the second half of the bottle to breathe even longer. Was a one-glass wine for us. (2, since there are two of us)
We really enjoyed this wine, it has a slightly ashy nose and taste, but was incredibly smooth and delightful.
The best I can say is, it's OK. Not spectacular, not terrible.
I agree with another review here. Looking back at my bottle's tag notes, after we let the wine breathe for at least an hour, it was much fruiter and more smooth than any other Merlot we've had.
