Twice now I have given this wine a shot and both times I've wanted to dump the entire bottle. One of the worst wines I have ever tasted. Bitter, astringent, acidic and wretched. If it had more raisin in it and was thicker it has the hints of a potential port, but as a table wine it's awful.
I really loved the 2001 Jewel Firma red table wine and once it was no longer available I decided to give the 2004 Merlot a chance. As great as the Firma was the 2004 Merlot was incredibly bad. I'd highly recommend the Firma blend and will continue looking for it, but skip the Merlot.
Great fruit, great color (deep purple), great nose (leather, tobacco, a hint of motor oil...a trait I've noticed in reds from Chile and Argentina that's actually quite good), nice finish with balanced tannins and bit of dustiness. Great wine for the price, but make sure it's the Medalla Real, the others just aren't as good.
Sexy, smooth, yummy and a great price.
Hahn is unmatched for consistent, quality, low price everyday wines. The Meritage has been a favorite for a long time, but the 2006 Monterey Pinot Noir is perhaps the best value ever! A hint of eucalyptus gives it a nice finish.
This is a beautiful winery set underground in a hillside and quite stunning in design, but I have yet to find an Artesa wine worth the money.
A light, airy Pinot Noir that opens nicely to reveal some carmel on the finish.
