Heavy with tannin and flat on the tounge, I expected this to have a fruitier flavor after reading the professional ratings.
Was a bit acidic with strong alcohol on the tongue, but a longer breathing time reveals nice deep fruit.
Lightly dry on tongue. Is sharp and a bit bitter if you don't let it breathe 2 hours. Good balance with cheese, but does seem to need to be paired with food, not just enjoyed alone.
This is one red wine that is perfect when chilled. We really enjoyed it and will definitely order again.
Very smooth and deeply fruity
This 2005 Shiraz was full of rich, deep fruit and really deserved to be rated higher than it was. Hopefully we can order more of this vintage before it's sold out!
Deeply fruity, yet even after allowing it to breathe, the alcoholic bite was a bit strong. My husband thought it was a bit too acidic, but I enjoyed it. More of a 3 1/2 star rating.
Smooth merlot but higher in tannin than we like.
Blackberry with clove and deep spice.
Fruity and dry, but much higher in tannins than most shiraz. Would be too fruity for a merlot, but much too dry for a shiraz. Possibly it's still too young and will be better in a year, or possibly the barrels they used, hard for me to say. It wasn't a bad wine per se, just not at all what I expect from a shiraz. I bought it on another member's high recommendation but think they were referring to another year which is sold out. I should also have noticed it was a screw cap, which should not matter I suppose, but I honestly haven't found a screw capped wine I like.
