Retired and living in a good place, drinking a good bottle of wine occasionally. I have lived in Europe and traveled most of the wine regions of the US. I am most at home in and with the wines of Burgundy and the Rheingau but respect many of the wines from Oregon, Sonoma and the hills and valleys outside Santa Barbara. I prefer the slower pace of Sonoma to Napa's mansions. However, I am most ecumenical when it comes to wine and I drink everything from Syrah to Sylvaner.
I like the endless variety of wine and appreciate what the winemaker does with the noble ingredients. I prefer a restrained touch where the flavor of the fruit delivers one a sensory replica of the place.
