When I worked in Australia several years ago, I travelled to Margaret River and Hunter Valley. Last year, I visited Cape Town but found the wines a bit undeveloped. I enjoy going to wine bars in Manhattan and look forward to the opening of City Winery in Tribeca. For me, wine can't be just complex or interesting--it has to be delicious, I love full bodied wines that "ooze fruit" and these days I also like aromatic wines (e.g. shiraz/vigonier blends). Wine evokes memory...of a trip..of a place we lived...of friendship...of love. Sipping wine brings us to the place where nature and humans harmonize, where the wine is enhanced and defined by the human capacity to smell, taste and see.
