This is an unique product. The problem for me is that it is made as a sec, which is quite sweet indeed. Just too sweet for me beyond a sip or two.

One of my favorite Champagnes. Gentle bubbles rise in the glass. Everything about this wine is refined and purely elegant. The nose is controlled with fruit and mint. On the palette, it's soft citrus fruits and a bit of Apple. The finish lingers long with more elegance and refinement. 100 Percent Chardonnay from the Cramant vineyards, this champagne is distinct. All Grand Cru grapes. All from a single year, but not vintage due to shorter aging. Mumm wants you to enjoy this wine young. It lacks some complexity for this reason, but it delivers a completely unique Champagne. The price, considering I have seen it even less, is surprising. Great value for an unique product that is difficult to find outside these speciality retailers.

Cordon Rouge is the House Style for Mumm. The availability of Cordon Rouge is fantastic. There are as many as 70+ wines that go into the creation of Cordon Rouge to give it a consistent taste year after year. Plenty going on in this champagne. Yeast and Fruit with a distinct sour candy finish. 3 Stars makes this wine sound worse than it is. It's as good as the house champagne from the other top brands, Clicquot & Moet, if not better.
