Big & Bold
Very smooth and Glycerol-like mouth feel. An hours decanting definitely helped the wine open up. Typical licorice finish, with cherry notes as well. While this is a good effort, the 2008 is better and I expect the 2010 to also be outstanding.
Smooth & Supple
Tasted this wine in a shop in Radda in Chianti in August 2012 and bought some on the spot. Bought more from Wine.com to have in our cellar. Agree on the score of 90. Slightly fruitier for us that some other Chianti's, but that is not a bad taste, in fact it makes it very drinkable on its own.
We actually visited Castello D'Albola in August and this was our preferred wine, even liked it better than the Riserva. Nice dark garnet hue, classic Sangiovese taste. Probably score between 88-90 for this vintage.
