ORwino

Biography:
I'm partial to Oregon Pinot Noirs but willing to give anything a try. I love to travel to distant countries (esp. where the food and wine are sublime!). The souvenirs I bring home are usually bottles of wine!

Bought this for $9.99 on-line out of curiosity. Rated 90 pts by WE. 94% Pinot Noir and 6% Syrah. I brought this to a Christmas party for a friend to try. He's enjoyed Pinot Noir/Syrah blends in the past. This one is mostly Pinot Noir but I thought it was worth a try. We opened this and let it stand for about 1 hour before tasting. Light ruby color and very thin (watery looking). Root beer scent prominent and on the palate was very strange. I did not enjoy this wine at all. Don't get me wrong, I like root beer. Just not in my wine (I guess). Also, this did not taste like any pinot noir that I have had before. If I had tasted this in a blind tasting, I would have guessed it was a red blend, not a true pinot noir. I was disappointed in this wine after reading others' reviews that really enjoyed this. Would not buy again. There are better true pinot noir out there for this price point.

Bought this online for $9.99 mostly out of curiousity. Rated 90 points by WS & #42 in Wine Spector's Top 100 of 2011. I'm not very familiar with Portuguese wine so I thought it would be a nice bottle to try. Red blend: Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz & Touriga Naciona grapes. I brought it to a Christmas party to share. Opened up the bottle to let it breath for about 1 hour prior to pouring (as was suggested). Dark ruby color, medium bodied with nice red/black fruit with well balanced tannins. I enjoyed this wine. Great for price point.

Great inexpensive Oregon Pinot Noir. I would describe this as a light bodied wine but smooth. It's a great every day wine for under $20.
