This isn’t a real Port since it is made from Zinfandel grapes in California. A proper Port is produced in Portugal from native grapes and would have a bolder and more intense flavor. However; if you haven’t yet tried a Fortified Wine and you enjoy a robust red wine then this one might be for you. I will definitely purchase Terra d’Oro Port again and serve it to friends who might not enjoy a bolder Port, Sherry or Madeira.
Stir this into Hendricks Gin then squeeze a lemon peel over your glass for the best martini that you will ever taste. - - Lillet is the preferred Vermouth of both James Bond and Hannibal Lecter; so how could you go wrong??
This Amontillado was simply the best beverage that I have ever tasted. Granted, I am no wine connoisseur and I am too cheap for vintage liquor, but this stuff was amazing. ---By the way, why do people write reviews complaining that sherry tastes like sherry? Sherry is supposed to be heavier and have a more concentrated flavor than wine; even light, dry sherry's are full of flavor. In my opinion, fortified wines are more enjoyable when they are sipped in small quantities like whiskey as opposed to drinking them like wine; the flavors and aromas are less overpowering that way.
