This is one delicious wine. It's soft and supple in the mouth and on the nose, but there is depth, complexity and firm structure here. It goes well with red meat and garlic. We've had it with grilled lamb and with beef rubbed with olive oil, garlic, fennel seeds and pepper. Yum. I would not be so high on this wine at the full price of $80 a bottle. There's an awful lot of great wine out there when you get into that neighborhood. But it's been on sale pretty regularly for half that, and it is killer for that kind of money. Buy more than one; you're going to wish you had more.
I've always found Lyeth wines to offer very good value. I got this on sale dirt cheap, but it is well worth the full asking price. You're grilling on a Tuesday and don't want to open that $35 bottle? This wine will not let you down. It can stand up to hearty grilled fare, but it's medium bodied and lush enough in the mouth to please people who don't like "big" red wines. Four stars for the price-value ratio.
Well worth the price. Brought this to the neighbors' house for an impromptu barbecue. They were blown away. The fruit is out front; it just explodes in your mouth. Went home and and ordered more.
