I work at wine.com, and am a total wine geek, and have earned the WSET Diploma in Wine and Spirits. I live in the Bay area and love to go to Sonoma and taste and eat BBQ oysters in Tomales Bay. I don't like over-extracted or over oaked wine. I prefer wines that let the site show through in the glass. I hate Syrah(Shiraz) and Zinfandels and any other wines that taste like Port. I do like Zins and Syrahs that have structure and balance.
If I want Port, I will drink Port. I also dont like white wines that taste like cold fermented banana peel.
The excitement of a never ending array of new tastes and flavors. I also love imagining the places the wine has come from in my mind. I love the way wine evolves in the glass, and changes with food. Wine is ephermeral. That is the best.
