I'm a musician by profession but I have always had a passion for wine. Years ago on a hiatus to do some studying, I took a job as a manager/buyer for a liquor store. This opened up a whole new world of wine to me. I was able to taste wines I could never afford and I learned what good wine REALLY tasted like. From that point on I have been a sponge: reading, tasting, buying, tasting, talking to wine people, buying more and tasting more. It's been a fabulous journey.
I am now on hiatus again from the biz and, again I find myself in the wine business - first working for a small boutique distributor (it wasn't my bag) and then as wine director for a retail store. It's gives me a lot of pleasure to spend time in the aisles getting people excited about wine.
I like wine because there are so many nuances to it. You actually can't help but sip it and taste every layer, every flavor. Craft beers are starting to come to that level for now but wine will always my favorite.
