Wines I've tried and liked and disliked...not necessarily favorites
Clean, full flavor, well priced. Also enjoyed Daedalus Cellars Pinot Noir 2006.
Not interested in this - but enjoyed Rodney Strong Alexander's Crown Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Most notable feature was the total lack of spice, which was positive because it was uniquely mellow. Finish reminded me of water, of all things. Btw, I ordered the '06 and wine.com sent me the '07...not too cool...
Drank the 2006 vintage of this high end Chard. It gave me a wicked hangover - I couldn't believe it!
Savory, complex, interesting
Also enjoyed Layer Cake Primitivo, passable, 'stealth marketing'
Had the Fess PN 2006 - perfectly likable, standard PN - good fruit...got a sense of the cranberry and strawberry; Also had the Fess 2007 Chard - late '90s/early '00s Chards were favorites of mine, because of distinct vanilla characteristics...i'm assuming though that was an indicator of a less refined Chard, since it's gone - sad to see it go
I like the Cline - robust, tasteful Zin...not a favorite though
I am a fan of Gott wines...they are a staple of my collection. This Zinfandel was typically solid from the vintner.
I disliked the wine - call me primitive, but i look for certain characteristics in certain wine varietals and in Chianti, I like to see some pepper. I didn't get that sense here, which left me with a feeling that the wine was indistinct. Why buy it, where there are so many other good choices?
Didn't have this, but instead the Columbia Crest Reserve 2005. Sadly, it's been a while since I actually drank the bottle, but I remember being underwhelmed. I will stay away from it.
What a tragedy that Wine.com has so many holes. This is about a St. Innocent Pinot Noir 2007 from the Willamette. I loved this wine, its rich, black fruit. A great value that I will choose again.
So many holes...I am a huge fan of the McKenzie-Mueller vineyard and enjoyed their 2004 Napa Cabernet France. I liked the wine so much I went back for one of my favorites, a Pinot Noir, which I will review when I can.
Nothing to do with this wine...here's a tip for Wine.com...enhance the relationship with your customers and the 'stickiness' of YOUR brand by allowing notes on ALL wines. If I can makes notes about anything, I'll be spending more time here, and looking at your products even more often, eh? Anyway, Paticia Green Cellars 2007 Pinot Noir...just wasn't impressed - primarily because it was a light, red fruit Pinot and I like 'em black fruit.
Lost this one...I am a big Gott fan - buy 'em by the case. Enjoyed the 2006 Dillian Ranch. It had the flowery, rose quality I expect in a good Zin. Was not astonished by the wine, but it passed the test.
I wish wine.com would expand its capabilities to cover wines consumed, even if not sold on the site...think of the data mining, hint, hint...anyway, lost my previous notes, but it was had a Gott 2007 Cab, which was fine, but not particularly memorable...a typical solid Gott. By contrast, had the Gott 2006 Lodi (Mohr-Fry Ranches) Zinfandel...remarkably rich, smooth, and savory...mixed black cherry and rose...bit of a jammmy bite to this one...mixed well with agnolotti and red sauce.
Thought this was very strong...black fruit feel, heavier pinot...well priced, quite good
Didn't have this...enjoyed an Rkatsiteli from the 'boutique' vineyard of Dr. Konstantin Frank in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I enjoyed the Reisling mineral combination of this wine. It was a bit sweet and a bit earthy. Didn't overwhelm the palette...nice to savor on a lazy Sunday evening.
Enjoy this wine...Pinots are my favorite...another solid black fruit choice...will probably buy some more.
I truly enjoy McKenzie-Mueller vineyard...this is what came up when I typed it in. This was more of red fruit 2005 Pinot. I've been impressed with everything they do, especially as a California Pinot.
Had the Four Graces 2007 PN from the Willamette...pretty ordinary, but not upsettingly bad.
I'm shocked! that they don't have the wine I want to reference...no I'm not. Enjoyed the Natalie's Estate 2006 PN...powerful, smooth, mesmerizing, more black fruit, rich and full.
