Our 2009 Chardonnay, Conservancy is a wonderfully expressive wine that is rich and creamy, yet fresh. Ripe tree fruit flavors of peach, pear and guava show on the nose and palate. Hints of lemon, subtle herbs and brioche balance out the fruitiness, and there is a creamy and nuanced finish. Herbed pork loin or pasta with your favorite cream sauce."Best Buy"
Pleasing aromas of pineapple and toffee greet the nose. Smooth and appealing for its balance, this wine presents flavors of pear, golden delicious apple, citrus zest and cloves. Lively acids invite these flavors to linger on the palate. Pair with citrus-sage roasted chicken, salmon or shellfish. critical acclaim: "Lighter, less buttery, and more fruit-driven than the very rich 2007 Chardonnay from Gordon Brothers, this new vintage better captures the house style. Impeccably balanced, with a good range of apple and other green and yellow fruits, it’s annotated with hints—not slabs—of oak. Three 90 ratings in a row. Excellent buy
Consistent reviews in the 90s. Should be lightly oaked, since that was a key word in my search.
A delicate pale lemon color, it shows fresh white peach, a hint of fig and some barrel complexity on the nose. It is a beautifully balanced and restrained wine with excellent soft fruit definition: a stylish and elegant face of Chardonnay. critical acclaim: "Still pale straw-green; early picking and extended lees contact (no oak) gives freshness and some texture to a light-bodied chardonnay." 88 Points Australian Wine Companion "Refreshing, with pear and grapefruit flavors on an open frame, lingering nicely." 87 Points
Our 2009 Chardonnay possesses a wonderful elegance due to the coolness of the vintage. While the wine still has the abundant orchard fruit flavors typical of Sonoma County Chardonnay, it also displays more citrus, acidity and minerality than we have seen in the past. The oak profile is also subdued to better match the wine's intensity, but there is still plenty of inherent texture and ripeness thanks to the Indian summer and frequent stirring of the lees. Overall, this is one of the most balanced, complex and delicious Sonoma County Chardonnays we've produced in years. critical acclaim: "Balance, elegance and varietal purity mark this wine. It's delicious and zesty, filled with pineapple, pear, green apple, honey and oak, wrapped into a texture of buttercream and with a long, spicy finish. The 2009 Alamos Chardonnay exhibits flavors of ripe apple and tropical fruit flavors, with a hint of spice and butterscotch from the oak aging. The grapes were vineyard selected and hand-harvested prior to being pressed. The juice was cold settled and solids were removed prior to fermentation in upright fermenters and barrels. Approximately seventy-five percent of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, before aging on the lees for 3 to 4 months to impart a rich, toasty mouthfeel. The wine was then aged in French and American oak for 3 to 6 months prior to bottling. critical acclaim: "Bright, light yellow. Subtly, pure, ripe aromas of nectarine and yellow plum. Supple, sweet and seamless, with attractive, lush stone fruit flavors for a wine in this price range. The satisfying finish offers a nice touch of grip. A great chardonnay value." 88 Points International Wine Cellar
Classic Clarksburg personality shines through in the green apple and pear notes, while a bit more tropical pineapple breezes by. The rich mouthfeel created by aging on the lees abounds mid-palate, while the finish is wrapped in creamy textures and tones from the malolactic fermentation. Spicy American oak notes of butterscotch and vanilla are the perfect balance to the freshness and acidity of the multifaceted wine. critical acclaim: "An amazing wine, especially at this price. Fresh, intense and vibrant, with sweat pea, green apple, melon and honeysuckle notes that are full-bodied, ending with a clean, crisp finish. The best of three bottles tasted. Drink now through 2014." 88 Points
