When you first open the bottle you will feel a light pepper flavor. When you allow the wine to open up you will be rewarded with a great flow of flavor of blackberry.

One of the best Sangioveses I've ever tasted, including the 2001's I sampled in Tuscany last year. This is a big red for a little price. Brunello lovers on a budget will appreciate this one!

I'm a fan of gavi, however when I first put this to my nose, I wasn't pleased. Taste was better than smell. I haven't stopped drinking the bottle, so I won't say it's aweful. I had it with lemon pepper chicken last night and, so far, it's been my favorite glass out of this bottle. It wasn't one I would drink on it's own, though.

This is a jewel of a wine as its quality far surpasses its price making it an excellent value. This Eric Soloman wine has a lovely blueberry nose with a touch of spice. On the palate it is medium bodied with strong fruit, blackberry with hints of pepper. Near perfect balance and a nice smooth finish make this Garnacha/Syrah blend exceptionally nice. I rate it an 84. This goes very well with a mild summer sausage and Jarlsberg Swiss and I suspect would compliment a good dark chocolate as well. For more reviews please visit www.drivebycritic.com

I liked but didn't love this. It is oaky & spicy (clove, pepper) but lacked identifiable (to me) fruit. Worth trying but with a lot of other great wine out there for the same price...

I tasted the 2003 (which Wine Spectator gave a 93!) made of: 30% Cariñena, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Garnacha, 15% Syrah, and 5% Merlot! This is a fabulously uncommon wine in a great value category for those not able to afford the Vall Llach or Clos Erasmus in a Priorat. It is equally rare to have a wine with such a significant amount of Carignan/Cariñena in it, that is from old enough vines and interesting enough terroir, to derive a wine of such character by their use. I discerned from this medium-ruby juice; a nose filled with dusty cocoa powder, allspice, aromatic Mediterranean woods and this distinctive primary scrub-steppeland broom, (and just barely sooty) which is so beguiling! On the palate in addition to the lovely sweet ripe dark red fruits, cassis, liquorice, blueberry, with subtle nuances of pepper, allspice, balsam, tar, and hints of lactics,.. there was that same scrub-steppeland broom with crushed-rock minerals as well! Don't decant this baby! That "dust from the earth" bouquet blows away in about 20 minutes, and those luxurious tannins soften out those complex sooty minerals in the palate after about 40 minutes. (Some might prefer that, but I prefer what you can't get in many other wines) So I'd Vacu-Vin this one now after each pour, or Drink up! I'd give it between a 94 and a 97, honestly depending on my demeanor at the time, and/or the food pairing in front of me. Rack of Lamb with a currant-cassis demi-glace, olive oil & herb-roasted baby red potatoes & garlic cloves, a caesar salad and a very dark chocolate mousse, for a Sunday afternoon dinner was the 97!

While I am not a connoisseur, I know what I like when it comes to wine. I usually don't care for Cabernet's, but this one is an exception. I would buy this vintner again ... while the 2005 vintage is no longer available through wine.com, I am willing to try the 2006 vintage.
