Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2007

From all the Sauvignon Blancs that I have tasted (including California), New Zealand is the best. Anything coming from the Marlborough area is good. Kim Crawford is exceptional. For the budget conscious, this wine is the one for you. I always keep a couple of bottles in my cellar.

Ringbolt Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

I was turned on to this wine about three weeks ago, and I can't get enough of it. It has a nice, fine line between subtleness and complexity. Good fruit and floral nose up-front but not a "fruit bomb" of a wine as some cabernet's can be. Great mid palate, and smooth, long finish. I get a bit of cocoa on the finish which I find to be great. Stands up well to food or a great "sipping" wine as well. I recommend this wine highly, especially for the price range!

Excellent nose and taste, and an unbeatable price made this easily my favorite wine I tried in 2007. Fruity but not too sweet, it paired great with steak, cheese, even pizza.

Danzante Merlot 2002

I picked a couple of bottles of the '02 at a discount price, not expecting anything more than something to serve to random guests-only to find that this wasn't some front shelf BS. What struck me first was that I wouldn't have guessed it a Merlot. It has a smooth, yet every so slightly acidic character reminiscent of many of the Italian wines I so love. On the dry side of things, but something anyone can appreciate without being a snob. Personally, i'd rate it at a $10-$15 a bottle range.
