Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Structured with precision and intensity. Lots of flavor and pristine fruit with classic Shiraz Viognier characters. Very long and focused.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright, clear crimson; a supremely fragrant bouquet with red and black cherry fruit interwoven with allspice, the immaculately constructed and balanced palate, with fine, faintly savoury, tannins and a blessing of French oak, once again proves Yering Station's mastery of the style. "
96 Points

"Polished, lively and juicy, with blackberry and spice flavors, hinting at apricot as the finish lingers tightly. Drink now through 2015."
90 Points

"Vivid ruby-red. Exotically perfumed bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, anise, smoke and dried violet, with a subtle peppery quality emerging with aeration. Intense, fruity and expansive, offering juicy, spice-accented black raspberry and cherry flavors and an absence of rough edges. Gentle tannins add shape and grip to the finish, which echoes the spicy note. This is ready to drink but there's no hurry. "
