Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2006 Yarden Pinot Noir presents attractive raspberry and blackberry notes layered with characters of violets and spices, rounded out by a hint of freshly baked bread. This medium-bodied wine is complex, elegant and flavorful. Enjoyable now, the 2006 Yarden Pinot Noir will improve over the coming years and remain in good drinking condition for five to eight years. Try the wine with a variety of smoked, wood-roasted or braised meats seasoned with earthy wild mushrooms, rosemary and thyme. Yarden Pinot Noir also goes well with moderately intense cheeses such as Gruyere.

That said, Israel makes some top-notch...
