Vintage 2009 was an excellent year for red wines in South Australia. Good
rainfall was recorded during the 2008 winter and proved invaluable as spring
and early summer were one of the driest ever. A wet December was critical for
the survival of the vineyards during the summer heat. The Cabernet Sauvignon
vines weathered the heat well and were able to ripen in ideal conditions
throughout February and March.
The Yalumba Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 is dark scarlet in color with
a purple hue with aromas of crushed blackcurrants, violets and mint leaf are
enhanced by hints of dusty French oak, Sichuan pepper and white truffles.
This bright and refreshing wine shows classical flavours of mint leaf and
blackcurrant with hints of chocolate and very fine tannins parading across the
palate, leading to a long and persistent finish.
"It's virtually impossible to go past Yalumba's Y Series: it's fun on the label and in the glass. Light hue; a good drink-now cabernet at the price, with bright blackcurrant fruit and a dash of savoury tannins. The scarecrow label is attractive, featuring a bird calmly sitting on the scarecrow's arm."

Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...Read More About Cabernet Sauvignon
