Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Straw in color with green hues, the aroma of the Yalumba Organic Viognier 2010 is varietal and alluring showing lifted honeysuckle, lemon rind, apricot and peach aromas mixed with hints of orange blossom, cashew and ginger. The palate is rich, textured, and harmonious resulting in a luscious wine with layers of spice, citrus and apricot. Enjoy with spicy Asian cuisine.

Located on the Murray River at Loxton in South Australia this beautiful organic vineyard, owned by the Barich family and organically certified for more than 10 years, produces Viognier and Shiraz.

Made with certified organic winemaking techniques and fermented with indigenous yeast naturally present in the vineyard. Also suitable for vegetarians & vegans.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright quartz-green; there is definite musk and apricot-tinged varietal fruit expression on both bouquet and palate; surprisingly, grown at Loxton in the Riverland by the Barich family. Doubly accredited, and a great advertisement for organic growing. "
91 Points

"Broad, spicy, round and generous, offering a silky, polished mouthful of almond, floral and spice along with pear and lychee. Drink now."
90 Points

"This represents a top value among Viogniers, which often carry a price tag loftier than their quality deserves. Not so in this case; the variety's floral aromas are well displayed, backed by hints of melon, apricot and gingery spice. It's fairly full bodied, with a slightly viscous texture that extends to the warm finish. Drink now."

Learn About South Australia

The majority of wines from Australia come from this state. Home to the red wine regions of McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley, South Australia produces some of the finest red wines of the country, and some say in the world. White wines gain their reputation from the distinctive Rieslings of Clare Valley.

Learn About Viognier

Viognier(vee-ohn-YAY) Viognier is best known for producing the rich, aromatic white wines of the Northern Rhone. Once a pricey commodity of the area, it's now much easier to find and drink. The perfumed grape creates wines of distinct aromas and flavors. Lower in acid and even lower yielding, Viognier kept to itself in Southern France until some traveling winemakers took hold of...
