#39 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2009
The 2008 vintage has created delicate and aromatic Viognier wines. The color
is pale gold with green highlights, with a nose of pure aromas displaying
apricot nectar, lifted honeysuckle and orange oil perfume. The palate is long,
rich and luscious, with intense stone fruit - particularly white peach and
apricot flavours, finishing with an aromatic citrus freshness. This wine will
continue to grow and develop in the bottle, firstly showing enhanced apricots
and spice, then after a couple of years, honey flavors and toast.
"Smooth and creamy, the polished texture supporting an explosive range of lemon meringue, pear, pineapple and
spice flavors that ease into the long, vivid finish. Drink now through 2012."
"Bright yellow-gold. Smoky, varietally accurate aromas of peach, apricot, pineapple, flowers and baking spices, plus a zesty kick of orange zest. Juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavors are nicely concentrated and brightened by notes of green cardamom and talc-y minerals. The orange note repeats on the finish, which is long, spicy and energetic.
International Wine Cellar
First time for a Viognier. Took a chance. Smooth, creamy, delightful. Enjoyed this with grilled swordfish steak.
This wine went well with with spicey orange chicken and rice. It has dry, yet surprising fruit flavor to it.
