Winemaker's Notes:

Suberb Cabernet - just starting to drink beautifully! An amazing value - well deserving of the 90+ ratings its received from almost every major wine publication (93 W&S, 90+ WA, 91+ ST, 90 WE). Limited.

"...Aromas and flavors of menthol, saddle leather, spice box, and red as well as black currants are offered in a full-bodied, concentrated intense style. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 22 months in French Oak, it will drink well for 10-12 years."

-Wine Advocate

"($45) Saturated, bright ruby-red. Very primary aromas of black cherry, raw berries and licorice; slightly medicinal in a positive way. Concentrated, intense and penetrating; extremely youthful, especially considering the fact that it's already five years old. Possesses a tight core of sappy, spicy fruit complicated by a note of fresh herbs. Finishes with a powerful tannic spine but avoids hardness. This should evolve in bottle for many years."

-Steven Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"There's black currant density at the core of this cabernet... the fruit is surrounded by black walnut scents of oak, lifted by the floral spice..."

"This Cab is serious business, and could not be mistaken for any other variety. It's excellent... fruit is big and black, ripe but not sweet."

-Wine Enthusiast

Medium red in colour with purple hints. Lifted ripe Coonawarra Cabernet, sweet and stalky, underpinned with nougat, chocolate and spicy oak. The palate displays upfront sweet berry fruit of medium weight with long grainy tannins and a firm finish. Cellaring potential of up to 10 years.

About Yalumba:

Yalumba is one of Australia's oldest family-owned wineries and was founded in 1949 by Samuel Smith. From modest beginnings, the Yalumba Wine Company has grown to become one of Australia's most successful medium-sized wineries, owned by 6th generation Robert Hill Smith. Yalumba regularly receives accolateds for its distinctive wines, as well as for its leadership role in the Australian wine industry in the areas of viti-innovation and environmental policy. The Yalumba premium wine portfolio commences with the fresh and flavorsome varietal wines of the Y Series, then moves up to capture the essence of the Barossa Eden Valleys, explores old world varieties through innovated, modern wines in the Hand Picked line, and culminates with the coveted, collectible Yalumba Rare & Fine wines.
