Woodward Canyon Charbonneau Red 1999
Color: Deep, dark ruby red, beautiful and clear!
Nose: Beautiful fruit of ripe bing cherries
and cassis; vanilla and spice of new barrels and the ubiquitous tobacco and cigar box aroma that is the Charbonneau terroir.
Taste: Ripe, sweet cherry fruit is in wonderful proportion with new oak, acidity, alcohol and tannin; the wine has great texture with soft, mature tannins and the finish is generous and long.
Observations: The 1999 vintage was a more classic vintage in contrast to the extremes of the 1998. The 1999 is currently less forward wine than the 1998, but I believe that the 1999 will age better and more gracefully – ultimately proving to be better than the 1998. This wine should age easily for ten years or more with proper cellaring.
Alcohol: 13.9 % by volume
