Wine Enthusiast - "The upside of the recession is that wines this good are being sold for lower prices, which is great news for consumers. This Cabernet, basically a négociant’s blend, is really delicious. It’s rich, dry, tannic and lush in blackberry and cherry tart, chocolate and smoky cedar flavors.

Wine Spots Winery
Wine Spots Wines was inspired by Daniel LeFrancois’s travels throughout the world. While backpacking through France, Daniel was enjoying a glass of wine at a café near Montmartre in Paris, contemplating his next adventure, when he spilled a drop of wine onto his map, landing next to Saint-Émilion. This inspired him to continue his journey to Bordeaux and ignited his love of wine. That "spot" on the map became a treasured souvenir, one that would remind him of all the great moments he experienced on that trip. As Daniel became more involved in the world of wine, he reflected upon his years of traveling and found himself remembering the wines he enjoyed on his adventures. When his dream of crafting his own wines became a reality, Daniel knew that he wanted his wines to combine his passion for wine and travel.
Thus was born Wine Spots, a collection of wines that explores the finest wine regions around the world. Daniel works with some of the best vineyards and top winemakers to produce wines that capture the distinctive qualities and terroir that define these regions. Explore California through our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Carneros Pinot Noir, and Monterey Chardonnay, then journey to Australia, France, and beyond… View all Wine Spots Wines
About Napa Valley
It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard lands were scooped up and vines were planted throughout the county. A number of wineries emerged, from large conglomerates to small boutiques to cult classics. Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely the grape of choice here, with many winemakers also focusing on Bordeaux Blends. Whites are usually Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Notable FactsWithin the Napa Valley lie smaller sub-AVAs that lend even more character specifics to the wines. Furthest south is Carneros, followed by Yountville, Oakville & Rutherford. Above those two is St.-Helena and finally, just granted an AVA, Calistoga. These areas are situated on the valley floor and are known for creating rich, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. There are a few mountain regions as well, nestled on the slopes overlooking the valley AVAs. Those include Howell Mountain, Stags Leap and Mount Veeder. Wines from the mountain regions are often more structured and firm, benefiting from more time in the bottle to evolve and soften.
About CaliforniaIt's not rare to see a wine's country of origin listed as "California." A country into itself in the wine world, California makes enough varieties and styles to match many European wine countries. It produces a diverse range of wines that span the quality spectrum.
The most famous of the California wine regions is Napa Valley, and these wines are certainly outstanding – but it's not as broad and diverse as its larger neighbor, Sonoma County. Down south, Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley is well-known for its Rhône blends, as well as cool-climate varieties like Pinot and Chardonnay. The Central Coast, the largest California AVA, has many different microclimates that lead to a wide range of wines with many sub-AVAs.

Wine Spots is interesting in that rather than a single vineyard, they go to various spots known for great wines and work with local producers to come up with a wine that vividly illustrates what makes that spot great for wine, hence the Wine Spot! Well lucky for me, this particular bottle seeks to show the best of Napa Valley in a bottle of Cab, perfect for #CabernetDay!This wine was made with a blend of grape sourced from acclaimed sub-regions including Rutherford and Oakville, so it should be pretty good right? Well, I won't leave you in suspense any longer, it is indeed VERY good! The nose is an interesting combination of lush fruit, leather and a hint of a light floral scent. The mouthfeel is big and luscious, with lots of velvety tannins for a long finish. The taste bursts forth with blackberry and cherry, with a woodsy sort of background, and despite the early fruit, the wine is actually quite dry, really showing the greatness of Napa Valley Cabs.31/4/2012Hello Vino - New York, NY52/21/2011A delightful mix of fruit and berry flavors. Hints of chocolate. Very elegant and balanced with smooth tannins. The 2006 vintage was good, but the 2007 is even better!vinolady - Antioch, CA411/22/2011

This is a great example of a Napa Valley Cab. Rich and bold, with well integrated tannins. Dark berry fruit flavors with hints of chocolate. Nice, strong finish that lingers. A wine to be enjoyed for special occasions or an evening in.311/12/2011Average Cab, decent tanins, not too complex. I got it on sale for $20, which makes it somewhat worth it. No way I would pay more than that for this one.xntrix - Rigby, ID410/28/2011richard hirsch - Denver, CO310/19/2011510/5/2011Very nice Cab.
