You know how hard it is to find a "value" Pinot Noir? Way hard, this category of wine is one of most difficult channels in the business. The 2013 Wine Spots is pretty nice and quite true to varietal; easy in the finish, just begs for a tenderloin of pork, with a savory wine reduction sauce. Medium ruby, garnet color; ripe strawberry, light boysenberry aroma, very fruity, slight wildness here, nice depth; medium bodied, textured on the palate, roundish on the palate; red fruit, some brown stems in the flavors, nicely appointed; medium finish. (Tasted: March 5, 2015, San Francisco, CA)

Thus was born Wine Spots, a collection of wines that explores the finest wine regions around the world. Daniel works with some of the best vineyards and top winemakers to produce wines that capture the distinctive qualities and terroir that define these regions. Explore California through our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Carneros Pinot Noir, and Monterey Chardonnay, then journey to Australia, France, and beyond…
As early as the 1970s Carneros became known as a source of terrific Pinot Noir, and was one of the first California regions to gain such a reputation. The combination of sunny days, cooling fog and thin clay soils are tailor-made for the variety. Another factor in Pinot Noir’s prominent place here is vintners’ willingness to experiment widely. The history of the grape in Carneros is marked by continuous research into clonal variations, viticultural techniques and site selection. Careful evaluation over time has revealed a signature flavor profile as well. Complex aromas and flavors of cherry, red berry, spice, earth and cola appear time and again in Carneros Pinot Noir. To this day the appellation remains one of California’s standard bearers for the variety.
