Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Grown in the heart of Santa Maria Valley — Pinot Noir country due to its long, slow-ripening season — this wine is shows true the true varietal character of its namesake grape. Its strawberry and fresh Bing cherry aromas lead to exotic berry and Asian spice flavors. This Pinot Noir boasts a silky body and smooth finish. Pair it with grilled salmon, roasted chicken and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.

Was a bit disappointed with this wine, after reading rave reviews elsewhere. Very tart, tight, like an underripe raspberry. Medium/light in body for a Pinot noir. Something bland about the nose and finish. Maybe it would have been better served a bit cooler than I had it. We are in the middle of a heat wave here and room temperature is higher than normal. Hmm.

Purchased this wine with high hopes; unfortunately it tastes like vinegar. Avoid this one.
