Vista Verde Vineyard is located a couple miles southeast of Hollister,
California, near the small town of Tres Pinos in San Benito County. This
heavy limestone vineyard is separated into blocks that include clones such
as Calera, Canada, and Pommard.
Another tremendous vintage from our vineyards in the Central Coast. The ripe aromas of wild raspberry, green tea, mocha and spice direct the nose. This wine shows richer and broader tannins than the 2007 edition, with a better overall concentration and depth of fruit. A long sweet finish of boysenberry, wild flowers, minerality and silky-smooth oak help to complete this wine. Blended from the more mature blocks on this ranch, this wine seems to be finally coming into its own.
"Full red. Complex, heady aromas of black raspberry, mocha, incense, smoky minerals and dried flowers. Rich and lush on entry, then sappy and juicy in the middle, with terrific mineral and floral lift to its sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors. Finishes sweetly perfumed and very long, with thoroughly buffered tannins and a whiplash of candied flowers."
